A rubber roof is only as good as its preparation
EPDM is a synthetic rubber membrane used on many domestic flat roofs. Large areas can often be covered with few or no field joints, which reduces the number of seams across the main roof surface. The membrane still needs a sound deck and properly formed edges, outlets and penetrations.

PRACTICAL ADVICE
Where rubber roofing works well
EPDM is often considered for simple flat roof shapes because broad areas can be covered neatly. More complicated roofs with several outlets, rooflights, walls and penetrations need additional detail work. These areas should be assessed rather than hidden beneath excessive sealant.
The roof still needs positive drainage. Rubber is waterproof, but a membrane should not be used to disguise a badly sagging deck or blocked outlet. If water is already ponding, the reason needs to be understood before the new covering is fitted.
Manufacturers set requirements for deck type, adhesives, temperature, overlaps and compatible trims. Warranty terms depend on the exact product and installation, so any warranty offered should be confirmed in the written quotation.
